Since its founding, MagnaBioSciences has dedicated itself to revolutionizing the field of rapid tests, by developing highly sensitive, accurate and cost effective magnetic based immunoassays.
Through its internal research program, MagnaBioSciences has successfully developed a number of highly sophisticated tools to facilitate the development of Magneto Immuno-Chromatographic Tests (MICT®) for a wide range of applications. One such tool is the Assay Development System (ADS), an innovative, patented platform capable of performing a wide range of biochemical assays in broad fields of applications including Clinical Diagnostics, Food Safety, Biodefense and Environmental testing.
In addition to lateral flow, the MICT® is compatible with many other small-volume assay formats such as microdots (e.g., < 1 mm diameter) or lines (e.g., 0.5mm x 5 mm). While the format requires the use of thin film substrates, the choice of materials may range from non-porous polymers to porous membranes, such as the nitrocellulose used in lateral flow. In general, any such material with an overall thickness less than 0.50 mm is compatible with the MICT®. This flexibility among substrates and formats makes the instrument compatible with many solid phase and flow assays, including multi-analyte panels. Preliminary work has also indicated adaptability to DNA array-type formats.
MagnaBioSciences actively collaborates with researchers and biotechnology partners throughout the world. The adaptability of superparamagnetic particles to novel and existing lateral flow formats, coupled with the flexible open architecture of the ADS technology, has successfully supported numerous collaborations dedicated to the development of magnetic based immunoassays. These collaborations have established the MICT® as a highly sensitive and quantitative diagnostic platform.
